Hello Bonjourist!

This is my very first post and I’m super pumped! I want to create a space where we can discuss women lifestyle: how can we make our lives more fun and productive? I expect to learn as I go and you, dear Bonjourist, is the lifeblood of this blog! Every content I upload will be with you in mind, so please be in touch!

But what the heck is “Bonjourist”?

It’s my way to define a person that enjoys life, each day! Yeah! Carpe Diem! It comes from the French word “Bonjour”+”ist” (like Archeologist) to mean someone specialized in living well! It’s quite audacious, but that’s the goal I set for myself and I want to encourage others to do the same: again, learning by doing!

My inspiration are those people you don’t even know but that greet you in the street with a huge, true smile: GOOD MORNING/BONJOUR!!!

Those people find evergreen contentment in their lives and exude confidence, optimism, peace. They make my day, seriously. I want to be like them!

But attention, this isn’t a happy pill: I’m committed to this goal because as all living creatures I know the other side, I do. I’ve had a fair amount of devastating times but I survived them all so far, and today I embrace joy with all I got. I’m tired of sadness, so tired. I’m committed to live life at fullest and to bring a little sunshine to all those who will read this blog!

I’m a poetry lover and this Victorian poem, written by William Ernest Henley, is the first thing I read every morning. It’s my prayer before going out for another day:

”Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll,

I am the master of my fate:

I am the captain of my soul”

Powerful, huh?

And why a French word? Because I’m based in Paris! You’ll notice a French zest in some posts and I’ll adapt the seasoning to the taste of the Bonjourists out there!

But no, I’m not French, I’m Brazilian! Thus, for an authentic French touch, fret not! My husband is French (well, half, his mum is American) and he’ll keep a close eye on everything that is related to his country. You can send us questions about anything you would like to know about our homelands!

That being said, I invite you to come over to get your daily dose of cool stuff!

In the next post, I’ll talk a bit more about myself and how exactly I got here! I would love to hear your story too, let’s introduce ourselves?

See you soon!

Angelica
